🚀 Getting Started
What is AuctionData?

AuctionData is a Chrome extension that automatically scores every storage auction listing on LockerFox, StorageTreasures, and StorageAuctions. Each unit gets a 0–100 opportunity score based on AI photo analysis, neighbourhood income data, keywords, unit size, current bid level, and auction timing — so you can spot the best units at a glance without clicking into every listing.

Which auction sites does it support?

AuctionData is currently active on:

  • StorageTreasures — storagetreasures.com
  • StorageAuctions — storageauctions.com
  • LockerFox — lockerfox.com

Support for additional sites is planned. Have a site you'd like to see added? Email us.

Does it work on mobile?

No. Chrome extensions only run on desktop Chrome. There is no mobile app at this time. The extension works on Windows and macOS.

I just installed the extension — why don't I see anything on the auction site?

If you had auction tabs open before installing, Chrome won't automatically inject the extension into those existing tabs. Give them a quick refresh (F5 or Cmd+R) and the score badges will appear.

Any tabs you open after installing will work immediately with no refresh needed.

I just signed in — why aren't scores showing yet?

If you were already on an auction page when you signed in, the extension should activate automatically within a few seconds — no refresh needed.

If it still shows a "Subscribe Now" banner, that means your account doesn't have an active subscription yet. See the Billing section below.

If neither applies, try refreshing the auction tab once.

I subscribed and came back to the auction tab — when do scores appear?

The extension polls for your new subscription status in the background. Within about 5–10 seconds of completing checkout, the page will automatically light up with score badges — no refresh required. Just switch back to your auction tab and watch it activate.

📊 The Score & Analysis
What does the 0–100 score mean?

It's an opportunity score — higher is better. Think of it as a quick signal for how promising a unit looks based on all available data:

  • 65–100 Strong opportunity
  • 40–64 Moderate opportunity
  • 0–39 Low opportunity

The score is a prioritization tool, not a profit guarantee. Storage auctions always carry some uncertainty — use the score to focus your attention, then apply your own judgment.

How is the score calculated?

The score is a weighted combination of several signals, run in parallel:

  • AI image analysis — Our AI vision model scans listing photos to identify items, estimate resale value, assess how full the unit is, and gauge organization level.
  • Keyword signals — the title, description, and tags are scanned for high-value mentions (e.g. tools, electronics, jewelry) and negative signals (e.g. clothes, boxes, trash).
  • Neighbourhood income data — the facility address is geocoded and matched to a US Census tract. Wealthier areas statistically contain higher-value stored items.
  • Unit size — larger units score higher, all else equal, because they can contain more.
  • Bid level — a low current bid relative to apparent value is a positive signal. An inflated bid is a negative one.
  • Bid competition — fewer existing bids generally means less competition and a better potential deal.
  • Closing urgency — auctions ending soon are weighted to help with time-sensitive prioritization.
What does "confidence" mean?

Confidence reflects how much data was available to generate the score:

  • High — photos were analyzed by AI, census data was found, and the listing has a description. Most reliable.
  • Medium — partial data available (e.g. photos but no census match, or census data but no photos).
  • Low — only keywords and title were available. Treat with more caution — the score may shift significantly once photos or location data are factored in.
What does "Analyzed X ago" mean?

Analysis results are cached to reduce costs and keep things fast. "Analyzed 2h ago" means the AI + census pipeline ran 2 hours ago on this listing.

Live auction data — current bid and time remaining — is always fetched fresh and reflects the actual current values. Only the deeper AI analysis is cached.

Why doesn't a listing have an AI Analysis section?

Either the listing has no photos, or image analysis ran but couldn't identify specific items. The score still runs — it just relies more heavily on keywords and location data, which lowers confidence.

What do the fullness labels mean?

Fullness is assessed from the listing photos by AI:

  • 📦 Packed — unit is stuffed wall to wall
  • 🗂️ Full — well-stocked unit
  • 📂 Partial — roughly half full
  • 📄 Sparse — relatively little inside
  • 🕳️ Empty — little to nothing visible

A packed or full unit scores higher than a sparse one, all else being equal.

What are signals?

Signals are the specific reasons the score went up or down. Green signals are positives (e.g. "High-value keywords detected," "Low current bid," "High-wealth neighbourhood"). Red signals are negatives (e.g. "Unit appears sparse," "Inflated bid," "Low-income area").

They're shown in the detail panel when you click on a score badge.

Why is a listing I think looks great scored low?

The score is based only on the data visible to the algorithm — photos, text, location, and bid. If photos are blurry or absent, if the description is sparse, or if the facility is in a lower-income area, the score will be lower regardless of your on-the-ground intuition.

Your experience as a buyer is a real input the algorithm doesn't have. The score is a first filter, not a final verdict.

How does the "Sort by Score" button work?

Click Sort by Score to reorder all listings on the current page from highest to lowest score. The sort is persistent across React page navigations (like pagination) and updates automatically as new scores come in.

Click Restore Original Order to return to the site's default ordering.

💳 Billing & Subscription
How much does it cost?

$19.99/month. Billed monthly via Stripe. Cancel anytime from within the extension — no hoops.

What payment methods are accepted?

All major credit and debit cards via Stripe (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover). No PayPal at this time.

How do I cancel?

Open the AuctionData extension popup and click Manage Subscription. This opens the Stripe billing portal where you can cancel in one click. You'll keep access until the end of the billing period you already paid for.

What happens to my access after I cancel?

You retain full access through the end of your current billing period. After that, score badges stop appearing and the extension shows a subscription prompt. No data is deleted — if you resubscribe later, everything works immediately.

Can I get a refund?

We don't offer refunds for partial months as a general policy. That said, if you cancel within the first 48 hours of your first charge and didn't find value, email us at support@auctiondata.app and we'll make it right.

I subscribed but the extension still shows "Subscribe Now."

The extension checks your subscription status automatically after checkout. Wait up to 10 seconds — it polls in the background and will activate on its own.

If it still doesn't activate after 30 seconds, refresh the auction tab. If the problem persists, check that the email in your extension popup matches the email on your Stripe receipt. A mismatch means the subscription is on a different account.

I was charged but I still can't access the extension.

This is almost always caused by a mismatch between the email you paid with and the email you signed into the extension with. Open the extension popup and check which email is shown. Compare it to your Stripe receipt. If they differ, log out and sign back in with the email that matches your receipt.

If the emails match and you're still locked out, email us at support@auctiondata.app with your receipt and we'll resolve it immediately.

How do I update my payment method?

Open the extension popup → Manage Subscription. The Stripe billing portal lets you update your card, view invoices, and manage your billing details.

🔒 Privacy & Data
What data does the extension read?

The extension reads publicly visible listing content on supported auction sites — unit titles, descriptions, facility addresses, current bid amounts, and listing photos. This data is sent to our servers to generate a score and is not stored long-term on a per-user basis.

We do not read any content outside of the supported auction sites.

Do you store my browsing history or track which auctions I view?

No. We don't log which listings you look at. Analysis results are cached by listing ID (not your user ID) for performance, and are discarded on a rolling basis. We have no record of your individual bidding activity or browsing patterns.

How is my payment information handled?

All billing is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number — only Stripe does. We receive your subscription status (active/cancelled) and the email associated with the payment.

Are my listing photos sent anywhere?

Yes — when image analysis is enabled (the default), listing photos are sent to OpenAI's API for AI analysis. OpenAI does not retain or use API-submitted images to train models under their standard API terms. Photos are analyzed and discarded, not stored by us.

Does the extension access other websites I visit?

No. The extension is restricted by Chrome to only activate on StorageTreasures, StorageAuctions, and LockerFox. It has no access to any other websites you visit.

Where can I read the full privacy policy?

Our full Privacy Policy is available at auctiondata.app/privacy.

🔧 Troubleshooting
Scores are spinning / never loading.

First check the extension popup to confirm your subscription shows as active. If it does:

  • Try refreshing the page
  • Check your internet connection
  • Our analysis server may be temporarily unavailable — try again in a few minutes

If the popup shows "No active subscription," see the billing section above.

Some listings have scores, others don't.

Listings are analyzed in a staggered queue to avoid overloading the server. On a page with many listings, the last few may take a moment to finish. Scrolling down on infinite-scroll pages will also trigger analysis for newly visible cards.

The extension stopped working after a Chrome or Windows update.

Extension updates occasionally require a full browser restart to take effect. Close Chrome completely (including from the system tray) and reopen it. If it still doesn't work, try going to chrome://extensions and toggling AuctionData off and back on.

I see score badges on a tab even after logging out.

This can happen in the brief moment after logout before the tab is notified. Refresh the tab — it will immediately show the login prompt and hide all badges.

The extension isn't activating on one of the supported sites.

A few things to check:

  • Make sure you're on a listing/search page (not a unit detail page or the site homepage)
  • Confirm the extension is enabled at chrome://extensions
  • Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R / Cmd+Shift+R)
  • Check that you're logged in and subscribed by clicking the extension icon in your toolbar
I'm getting an "Extension context invalidated" error.

This happens when Chrome updates the extension in the background while you have auction tabs open. The old content script becomes disconnected. Simply refresh any affected tabs and everything will return to normal.

The extension seems to slow down the auction page.

AuctionData stagger-queues all analysis requests and doesn't block page load. If you're noticing sluggishness, it's most likely the auction site itself rather than the extension. If performance is a real concern, you can turn off image analysis in settings to reduce API calls — keyword and location scoring will still run.
