AuctionData ("we," "our," or "us") operates the AuctionData Chrome extension and the website at auctiondata.app. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. What Data We Collect

Account data: When you sign up, we collect your email address to create and manage your account. We do not collect your name, phone number, or any other personal details unless you voluntarily provide them when contacting support.

Payment data: Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card number. Stripe provides us with your subscription status (active, cancelled) and email address associated with the payment.

Extension activity: The AuctionData Chrome extension reads publicly visible listing content — such as unit titles, facility names, addresses, current bid amounts, and auction photos — from the storage auction websites you browse (LockerFox, StorageTreasures, and StorageAuctions). This listing data is sent to our servers to generate a score and is not stored long-term on a per-user basis.

Usage data: We collect anonymised analytics data about how the website is used (page views, button clicks) via Google Analytics. This data does not identify you personally.

What we do NOT collect:

• Your browsing history outside of supported auction sites
• Keystrokes, passwords, or form data you enter on any website
• Personal details beyond your email address
• Location data from your device

2. How We Use Your Data

• Email address — to create your account, send login links, and (rarely) send important service announcements.
• Listing content — to analyse auction listings using AI and return a score to the extension. Images are sent to OpenAI's API for content analysis and are not retained by OpenAI beyond processing (subject to OpenAI's data retention policy).
• Subscription status — to determine whether you have an active subscription and to enable or restrict access accordingly.
• Analytics — to understand which pages and features are most used so we can improve the product.

3. Third-Party Services

We share data with the following trusted third parties only as necessary to operate the service:

• Supabase (privacy policy) — authentication and database. Stores your email address and subscription status.
• Stripe (privacy policy) — payment processing. Handles all billing and subscription management.
• OpenAI (privacy policy) — AI image analysis. Auction listing photos are sent to OpenAI's API for analysis. Images are not stored or used to train models under the default API terms.
• Google Analytics (privacy policy) — anonymised website usage analytics.
• Railway — cloud infrastructure provider that hosts our backend servers. Data is processed in the United States.

We do not sell your data to any third party.

4. Chrome Extension Permissions

The AuctionData extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

• Access to lockerfox.com, storagetreasures.com, storageauctions.com — to read auction listing content on these specific sites only. The extension does not read or interact with any other websites.
• Storage — to cache analysis results locally so listings you've already viewed don't re-fetch unnecessarily.
• Identity (optional) — used only if you choose to sign in via Google OAuth.

5. Data Retention

• Account data — retained for as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request.
• Analysis cache — listing analysis results cached in your browser's local storage are automatically cleared when you uninstall the extension.
• Payment records — retained by Stripe as required by financial regulations (typically 7 years).

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Deletion — request that your account and associated data be deleted.
• Correction — request that inaccurate data be corrected.
• Cancellation — cancel your subscription at any time via the billing portal (no data is deleted automatically, but no further charges will occur).

7. Cookies

Our website uses a session cookie set by Supabase to keep you logged in. Google Analytics sets cookies for usage tracking. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

8. Children's Privacy

AuctionData is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
